Reviews

I loved this book. It's incredible. I know of others fighting with MS. It's such a hard illness to describe to children and others. This book is a revelation. It's hard to explain something that others can't readily see and yet the author managed to capture it so perfectly and lovingly here in her book. Children will much more easily understand what this disease is like. This is a book that needs to be widely read.

This book is a gem for any child with a family member dealing with a lifelong illness or disability. Despite the weight of the topic, the story presents the illness in an accessible and child-friendly manner. Its touching message, rooted in the author’s own experiences, adds a layer of authenticity and depth. The back matter is particularly impressive, providing a child-friendly explanation of multiple sclerosis (MS) along with engaging activities that help kids grasp the condition more effectively. This book is a valuable tool for sparking meaningful conversations and nurturing empathy.

Amazing!!!

I was recently diagnosed with MS and was struggling to explain how I feel to my kids. this book explains it so well. Can't wait for them t get home from school today so we can read it together and have a discussion about it! Thank you to the amazing author for doing a great job.

WHAT I WRITE

Picture Books

I have always been drawn to humour. I truly believe that humour can reach even the most reluctant readers. It is why I fell in love with reading as a child. I write picture books with humour and heart, lyrical picture books, and character-driven stories with a focus on social-emotional learning. I have also been exploring metafiction. I have manuscripts that deal with chronic illness, mental health, and speech challenges. Fun fact about me: I love superheroes and the farm, which led me to write several manuscripts featuring them. Including my early chapter book.

Novel in verse

I am working on a middle-grade novel in verse that discusses post-traumatic stress disorder—something that I am very passionate about.

Fun Facts

I was tongue tied until I was 21 years old.

Despite being fixed, I often still get asked where I am from due to my unique speech.

Though my speech challenge is different, this book made me cry. It is absolutely beautiful.

I have been fighting Multiple Sclerosis for 12 years.

If I were a book (or two) I would be..

I still can't believe that it has been eleven years already. Fighting MS is like riding a rollercoaster. There are lots of ups and downs, but I always try to stay positive.

I wrote a manuscript to explain everything about my invisible illness to my daughter and guess what?

It became a real book!

These two books represent everything that I believe in and grew up with.
